Top Five Activities to do in Cintsa
What can you do when you visit Xanadu? Read along and find out.
1. A walk on the beach
You can scrunch your toes into the velvety, white sand of Cintsa’s beach as you breathe in the ocean’s aroma. Very likely, a shiver of bliss will cascade through your body as the sunlight flares in your eyes and the endless beach bursts with dazzling light and turquoise water. Further on, on one side of the beach, rock pools will offer you their briny, still-life compositions while the waves pummel the rock shelf, like a tireless boxer. The day will roll by to the drumbeat of waves; waves with lacy, bubbling crests, which lap against one another onto Cintsa’s perfect beach. As the sparkling water tiptoes up the shore, and twilight approaches, your gaze will go to the horizon, and you will be mesmerised by the Indian Ocean tugging the yellow balloon of the African sun downwards as the sea and sky melt together in shades of saffron and chrome. Your eyes will smile as you gaze at the Cintsa estuary, where its pristine ripples of liquid gold will whisper an invitation to you to explore the shoreline. A simple stroll along the Cintsa Beach - at any time of day - is the Number One activity when visiting Xanadu.

2. Game viewing at Inkwenkwezi
Inkwenkwezi, meaning ‘under the stars’ is a wildlife gem nestled on the ridge just above Chintsa. On the rolling green hills of Inkwenkwezi’s reserve, antelope graze contentedly, zebras look as if they’re still in their pyjamas and warthog frolic with their tails raised like aerials as if they’re trying to tune into the beats on the local FM station. These, and the Big Five, offer visitors to Chintsa a game viewing experience within a malaria-free environment. One of the especially exciting features of an Inkwenkwezi visit is the Elephant Experience. It’s a never-to-be-forgotten encounter were visitors have the chance to touch and feed the elephants, and for those who are brave enough, even be kissed by one of these giants of the veld.
3. Mega-fun at a microbrewery
Quaffing craft beer sounds good, doesn’t it? Emerald Vale Brewery, a short drive from Chintsa, offers the opportunity to view the state-of-the-art technology behind the craft beers produced at the brewery. After touring the production facilities, guests proceed to the tasting room where a selection of the Emerald Vale brews can be sampled. The range of dark to blonde beers offers something for everyone, and once a choice is made, a larger glass of the good stuff can be purchased – or you might even want a case, to take back to Chintsa for further enjoyment. The café offers food to enjoy along with your beer, and there are also non-alcoholic refreshments for children and teetotallers.
4. Golf at Olivewood Golf Course
Thwack! Aah, the reassuring sound of a golf club hitting the sweet spot and sending the ball spinning towards the pin. There’s no sound sweeter than that to a golfer’s ear! The Olivewood Golf Course at Chintsa West is new, immaculately maintained and provides an amazing golfing experience. Its pristine greens and fairways not only provide an opportunity for superb shots, it also offer magnificent views of the Eastern Cape coastline from the highest point. Physical activity, breathing in the fresh aromas of ocean and bushveld, and a chance to unwind – a trip to offer Olivewood ticks all the boxes!
5. More rejuvenation and revitalization than you could imagine
Chintsa’s quiet ambiance and calming ocean outlook offers you the best way to unwind. But what if you wanted to further enhance that with a relaxing massage? Or perhaps a soothing facial? Amazingly, even that is available in Chintsa. The Prana Lodge Wellness Spa at Prana Lodge offers world class beauty treatments and massage therapies, but you will need to book ahead as the secret is out, and the spa is very popular. So get blissed out, and treat yourself to a spa treatment while you’re holidaying at Chintsa.
